About the Print: The concept for “Guardian of the Gate” was born during a lunch meeting between the artist, Ken Featherstone, and University of South Carolina Alumni staff members where the topic of discussion was, “What would be the ultimate image of the University of South Carolina?”

The result of that meeting is this unique signed and numbered print of a Gamecock boldly guarding the Horseshoe Gates as the Palmetto tree and moon fill the sky. Depicted in full ruffled plumage, the Gamecock stands proudly in the foreground as the afternoon sun casts a shadow of the university logo on the brick wall. This limited edition “giclee” reproduction is unlike anything available before and truly captures the spirit of the University of South Carolina Gamecocks.
